Steamhouse India Ltd has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre (HEPC) to explore industrial infrastructure opportunities involving a proposed investment of ₹500 crore in the state, with a focus on community boiler systems for industrial clusters.

The MoU, signed with the state government entity on October 27, provides a framework for cooperation and government facilitation to evaluate potential projects, the company said in a statement.

The proposed investment is not a committed expenditure, and any development will depend on technical and commercial feasibility, industrial demand and regulatory approvals.

Community boiler systems generate steam at a central facility and distribute it to multiple industrial users through a dedicated pipeline network. The model can enable coordinated fuel management, centralised pollution-control systems and emissions monitoring, depending on the technology deployed and compliance with applicable environmental standards.

"Community boiler infrastructure offers an opportunity to rethink how steam-intensive industries meet their requirements, while addressing the growing importance of environmental compliance," said Vishal S Budhia, Chairman and Managing Director of Steamhouse India.

"Haryana's industrial clusters warrant a closer examination of centralised steam generation, supported by appropriate pollution-control systems and efficient distribution networks," he said, adding that the agreement provides a framework to explore the opportunities, subject to feasibility assessments and regulatory approvals.

The proposed collaboration comes amid persistent air-quality concerns across the Delhi-NCR region, where industrial emissions remain an important consideration. Manufacturing centres such as Panipat and Sonipat could offer potential locations for assessing cluster-level steam infrastructure, although the company has not announced specific project sites.

Community boiler systems have also featured in the broader regulatory discussion around industrial emissions, including Central Pollution Control Board guidelines on promoting such infrastructure in small-scale industrial clusters.

Steamhouse India, formerly known as Ankleshwar Eco Energy Ltd, generates and distributes industrial steam through community boiler facilities and pipeline networks. It also purchases steam from third-party producers for distribution and operates a nitrogen generation and distribution facility at Ankleshwar in Gujarat.

The company said its expansion strategy focuses on broadening its geographical presence and developing community steam and industrial gas infrastructure across manufacturing clusters.

The Haryana agreement could provide a route for Steamhouse India to evaluate opportunities beyond its existing regional footprint, while offering the state a potential model for meeting industrial steam demand through shared infrastructure. However, the commercial viability of such projects will depend on the concentration of industrial demand, pipeline economics, fuel availability, emissions-control requirements and the cost of securing regulatory approvals.
